POA Show

I told Kaitlin as a reward for working with Sparkle Plenty, I would take her to the POA show in Oct. Johanna our foreign exchange student went along and rode a couple classes. We truly had fun; Showmanship is not her thing, nor can we compete in the halter classes with expensive horses and fancy trainers but she did really well at the Walk, Trot with Johanna.. Considering there was no room to warm up a horse, Kaitlin entered in the Western Pleasure just to warm her up and should have placed. Was cut off several times by other horses and Sparkle did great. Games of course was the action of the day and she came home with many ribbons.  We were there almost 20 hours so it was a long day but so much fun. Ironically, we all slept in today.

Fall Lessons and fun riding

Johanna is our foreign exchange student from Germany.  Here Johanna is riding Charlie. She will also ride Sparkle to ready herself for the Spooktacular in October.
Baihley came home from college and spent a fun afternoon on "Socks" her first riding horse. He loves to game and go on trail rides.  Here they are running in the outdoor arena.

2013 4-H Fair and Open Show

We had three horses at the Fair this year. Buddy, sold to Megan, and will be leaving us this weekend, Sparkle Plenty who was ridden by a young girl who didn't have a horse to ride, and Baihley took Harvey in training. At the Open Show, Baihley rode Harvey and then brought in Socks her gaming horse for fun... It was a hot fair, but a great one.

Spring Shows have begun.

Baihley on Toby showing at the second show of the season

The girls having fun... oh and Tyler too

My favorite thing is watching the gaming and taking pictures. Our friend Tyler got airborne here but came down on the saddle and placed first in his division.

Harvey, Baihley's two year old getting ready for his first show

At the gate,,, not sure about it but he did well for only having 11 rides on him before entering the arena.

Spring Lessons are coming

It's time to sign up for Spring Lessons.  Give us a call or e-mail to get set up.  We will be doing lessons Monday - Thursday after school and early evenings.  More times will open up once school is out for the summer.
Baihley has been working with her two year old and these are some pictures of his 4th ride. He's going forward backwards, giving to the bit and when she says "whoa" he comes to a dead stop.  It's fun to watch.
Harvey is getting the hang of turning.
He's even grown since I last saw him three weeks ago.
I'm not sure why he was sticking out his tongue but it was a bit cute.
Baihley and Harvey... why does she always have her dirty carthart on when I'm taking pictures!!!

Training Luxery Machine

Even though it's very cold, Baihley has begun training the new yearling.  He has been here a week and they are working on leading, longing, backing, giving, desensatizing, bagging and manner.  Kind of like a toddler...

Each side of his head looks totally different!

Giving to pressure on the halter.

Learning to trot beside someone is a bit of a challenge but he's doing good. He knows how to Whoa... just figures then he should do something so he goes again.  Slowly but surely he is catching on.
Backing up isn't as easy as it looks.
