December Sabbatical

For most of the horses, they get some time off in December due to concerts, Christmas parties and family obligations. We will have kids coming to ride to keep the horses in shape so let us know if you are not taking lessons and want to come out and just put some time on the saddle.  That includes mom's too!

Fun Day

So it didn't go quite as planned; BFG went limping again so we grabbed Toby and had three horses, lots of girls and about 65 family and friends watching the girls ride, eating hot dogs, making s'mores and touring the stables. The kids were excited about their shirts, some of them got to ride the show horse and Baihley hopped on Toby bareback to show the parents the finale. It was a bit windy, but we had the grill going, a little fire and everyone had a great time.
Jade riding Toby! She had him loping beautifully without any prior lessons. Cool..

Fun Fall Show

Sunday October 16th we will be having a fun fall show with the kids.  3 - 5 p.m. we will gather at the Stable.  3-4 will be a show, all the kids who can come will be riding and showing what they have been learning. There will be the baton race, egg and spoon, turning in a box, and the two that have ridden the longest will show the younger ones what they can look forward to with loping their horses.  Pictures will follow. All the kids will get t-shirts too this year and we are excited about having them all together.

State Horse Show in St. Paul

Baihley at the State Horse Show getting ready for Showmanship with Toby.

Placed second in the State in Western Pleasure Class.  She has worked hard at training Toby and it paid off!

Katie came up to watch and enjoy the special moment!!!!

English- well it isn't his best.... yet. He did his beautiful Western Pleasure lope and refused to speed up.  She will work with him on that this winter. She had only ridden him English in 3 shows so he looked beautiful just went a bit slower than what she will develope him into.  We had a great time.... absolutely great.

New Private Lesson Schedule

This spring and summer we will be having no lessonso n Monday so we are beginning to phase that in this week.

Private Lessons times May 9, 2011 are as follows
Tuesday 4-6 private lessons
Wednesday 3:30-4:30 private lessons
Thursday 3:30-5:30 private lessons
Friday 3:30-4:30 private lessons

Private lessons usually are in the indoor arena and no other riding is allowed during a private lesson. If the weather is wonderful, additional riding can be in the outdoor and private lessons are not bothered. Private lessons may choose to come and ride in the outdoor but that doesn't affect others riding in the outdoor arena since it's a nice large area.
This is Elizabeth riding BFG (Big Friendly Giant) the new lesson horse. He loves little girls.

Thursday night will be family night at the farm.  After 6:00 p.m. we will be welcoming families to come out for additional riding time, supervisesed in the outdoor arena for games, fun stuff and fellowship around the campfire, on the swingset or just enjoying the country air.  Kids will be more than welcome to ride, family can ride also if they have their waiver signed. When it's dusk we will light the fire and enjoy s'mores, hot dogs and pizza pockets.

New lesson Horse

Elizabeth is all smiles after the lesson on Cody. He was a perfect gentlemen and obeyed instantly. Baihley now has to have longer lesson plans because he's so well trained!!!!
Cody will be our new lesson horse; Cody's former owner was legally blind and an older gentlemen. Cody is easy going, gentle and has a nice slow trot and lope.

Spring

It's a muddy mess here and with the 2 buildings being taken down we have a mess in the horse pasture as it used to be. The fences have been moved; we now have three pastures with the horses in them. One pasture is for boarders, and the others with the lesson and home horses.
Lessons are as follows for the spring-time.
Mondays 4:30-5:30  beginner lessons
Tuesdays 4-6 private lessons
Wednesday  3:30-5:00 after school riding
Thursday 3:30-4:30 after school riding
                4:30-5:30 private lessons

Those are the only scheduled conflicts in the indoor arena. When it warms up, dries up and the outdoor arena is ride-able, riders can ride during lessons in the arena not occupied with lessons.
All tack and equipment is scattered between the sheds, arena's, shop and house during construction.  Ask if you need something and can't find it.  Also, be careful walking in the mud when walking horses back and forth to the arena's and pastures.  The horses have taken the back-hoe noise and tin being tore off the room, not to mention thunderstorms and lightning hasn't bothered any of them; well we weren't out in the middle of the storms asking a lot of questions.
Check the Young Riders Face book for information dealing with 4-H.   And yes, we are sorry about the mud, the mud dreadlocks on their tales and unique designs on their bodies. It will get better.

Spring/Mud

We have spring and mud here at the farm. That hasn't bothered the girls at all. We now have Cola and Saffy here. Cola loves to flirt with Socks. They have a new lean to in the pasture but no one seems to care about it at all. We will be moving fences once the ground thaws out and then they will discover they can't go into the old barn.
We got lots of great deals at the Farmington Tack sale. We have lessons three nights a week now and will be starting day lessons when it gets into April.

Check out this new ministry

We are proud supporters of this ministry; a way to be Jesus hand and feet everywhere the horse community is where we live. Pray for the effectiveness of the leader, the ripple effect and that people come to know Jesus through this ministry.

Cold, but warm hearted

It's ridiculously wintery but the girls are still riding at least 6 days a week. We have four girls riding in lessons and Baihley and Haley ride as much as possible. Baihley didn't ride today but that was a first in about a week. Toby is learning more all the time. We now have Cola and Saffy here. The first thing they did was jump a fence to get to the normal horses. We had put them in the show horse pasture! So Sunday morning early, the two kids and I were out with the bob-cat fixing fence and moving snow piles. Obviously they don't mind climbing large snowpiles to see what's on the other side!

Winter Riding

Winter riding times and lessons are well under way and also cleaning out the horse lots.  They are well used to the bob-cat and people with shovels.
